COD MW4 Guide editorial policy: sources and factual claims

For release dates, rules, platforms and edition benefits, we start with the developer, publisher, official store or official support page. A newer authoritative statement can replace an older announcement. Search results and other agents’ suggestions help locate questions, but are not sufficient evidence for a game claim.

A source supports the statement it actually makes. A PC release rule is not automatically a console rule. An announced mode is not a promise about every future mode. A storage requirement is not a download-size measurement. We retain those distinctions when summarizing.

Keep facts, advice and unknowns distinguishable

We do not publish invented rankings, ratings, search volumes, reward probabilities or personal play experience. No release-build review, FPS benchmark or best-loadout test is claimed in this initial version. Unconfirmed pages remain unpublished when they cannot complete a useful player task.

  • Official information: attributed to the relevant primary publication.
  • Editorial advice: a suggested workflow or practice, without invented test results.
  • Unknown: no sufficiently specific source verified for the claim.
  • Archive: a past event or offer whose original conditions remain useful.
  • Tested finding: requires actual evidence, platform, version and method before using that label.

Review dates and historical information

Published records the first publication of our page. Updated records its substantive revision. Sources checked records our latest source review, which can differ from the revision date. The linked source has its own publication or update date. None of these dates is a live game-server test.

Past beta dates remain labeled as history. A scheduled time reaching zero is a clock event, not confirmation that every player can connect. An updated official policy should prompt changes to all affected summaries, tables and tool rules.

Corrections and substantive changes

Email hello@codmw4.org with the page, disputed claim and a supporting source. We compare the evidence, correct affected content and note a material factual change when it changes a player’s decision. We avoid reproducing private account details in correction records.

Initial launch verification, October 22, 2026: the September 29 PC article provides a midnight-local full-game rule. This guide includes that PC wording while keeping unverified console times unknown. Earlier planning notes that treated all exact times as unknown are superseded for PC only.

October 23, 2026 requirements review: the maintained October 1 PC support article lists an Intel Core i7-8700, while the September 29 blog lists an i7-8700K. The PC guide now uses the newer support table and explains the difference instead of silently combining the two sources.

Commercial independence

This release has no advertising code, paid placements or affiliate links. Official store links are ordinary references. If a future commercial relationship is introduced, its disclosure must appear before the corresponding promotion is published.
